2023 Krewe of alla float loading information
As parade day is rapidly approaching, we wanted to share important information regarding float loading.
Float loading is this Saturday, February 4 from 9-4 pm at 4100 Michoud Blvd, NOLA 70129.
Plush Appeal will have our Krewe of ALLA throws for sale. In addition, doubloons and Krewe of ALLA merchandise will be available for purchase. Harnesses are mandatory for each rider, and will also be available for purchase.
Riders who purchased a Grounds Krewe package or a la carte items MUST pick them up from Plush Appeal and load them on the float at this time. Plush Appeal is not responsible for loading Grounds Krewe packages.
Directions to the Float Den (heading east from Metairie): Take I-10 East to I-610 East Merge back on to 1-10 East traveling towards New Orleans East From I-10 East, take exit 246A to I-510 South towards Chalmette/Little Woods From I-510, take exit 2C Almonaster Blvd. to Old Gentilly Rd. Staying to the left at the intersection, make a left on Almonaster to Old Gentilly Rd. From Old Gentilly Rd, look for the Krewe of ALLA flag and Open House sign on the left hand side and turn into the driveway.
As you may have seen at our open house this past weekend, the rows between the floats are extremely narrow and several floats are packed very tightly together. For that reason at the request of Kern Studios, we will not be allowing any vehicle access inside the den.
When you arrive, we ask that you park your vehicle and walk into the den and assess where your float is located. Please do not assume it will be in the same position as it was at open house as the floats are frequently moved around the den.
We also strongly encourage that you bring a cart or a dolly to provide an easy means of transporting your throws inside the den.
Important note for riders on the top deck: The roof at the den is very low in certain spots, so please exercise caution and watch your head as you load your throws.
Due to the large number of riders that we are expecting, we kindly request that you not linger at the den after you drop off your throws. We will have plenty of time on the day of the parade to sort bags and hang beads!
Please be mindful of the city rules that state:
We ask that everyone gather the plastic bags as best you can in your area on the float so they can be properly disposed of after the parade.
As we are unable to predict the weather for parade day, we strongly encourage each rider to protect their throws from inclement weather. The best way to do this is to place throws inside large garbage or contractor bags and place the tie at the floor. Tarps, while convenient, tend to pool water and can blow away. The bags also double as a trash mechanism for the plastic packaging!
